For writers

Your Writing.
Your Website.
No Tech Required.

Freelance writers, essayists, newsletter writers — you deserve a home base for your work that you own outright. Not Substack's domain. Not Medium's algorithm. Yours.

Build your writing home

Built for writers like you

Cloudpad was designed with the kind of writer who takes their craft seriously but doesn't want to become a developer to publish their work.

Freelance writers

Your website is your portfolio. Cloudpad makes it easy to showcase your published work, your clips, and your availability — all on a professional domain that impresses editors and clients.

Essayists

Your essays deserve a beautiful, focused reading experience — not a cluttered platform interface. Cloudpad's minimal themes put your words front and center with nothing competing for attention.

Newsletter writers

Run your newsletter on another platform but want a web home for your archive? Publish your issues to Cloudpad and give your writing a permanent, searchable, shareable home on your own domain.

The writer's dilemma

Two things have always gotten in the way of writers owning their platform.

Technical setup is a barrier

Self-hosting a blog means buying a domain, setting up hosting, installing WordPress, choosing a theme, dealing with plugins, security updates, and backups. Writers shouldn't need a computer science degree to have a website.

Cloudpad handles all of it. You write. We host, secure, and maintain everything.

Platforms give away your audience

Substack, Medium, and newsletter platforms own the relationship with your readers. They can change their algorithm, increase their cut, or shut down — and your years of work suffer the consequences.

With Cloudpad on your own domain, you own your audience relationship. Completely.

Write. Publish. Own it.

That's the whole philosophy. Cloudpad exists so writers can focus entirely on writing.

Writer FAQ

Do I need any technical knowledge to use Cloudpad?
None. If you can use Google Docs, you can use Cloudpad. Setting up your blog takes about five minutes. Connecting a custom domain is guided step-by-step. You'll never need to touch a server, write code, or worry about hosting.
Can Cloudpad replace my Substack?
Cloudpad is the web publishing layer — your blog and links page. Email newsletters are handled separately (we integrate with Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and others). If Substack is your newsletter tool, you can use Cloudpad as your website home base and Substack for email delivery, giving you the best of both while keeping your own domain front and center.
Is my writing content safe and backed up?
Your source of truth is always your Google Doc — which Google backs up automatically with version history. Cloudpad publishes a rendered version of that content. If anything ever happened to your Cloudpad account, your writing lives in Google Drive, completely intact.
Can I password-protect some posts for paying readers?
Members-only content is on our roadmap for a future release. Currently, you can mark individual posts as unlisted (not appearing on your public blog index, but accessible via direct URL). Full gated content with payment is coming — join the waitlist to be notified.
