1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes the rules governing your use of all Very Big Machine software, applications, websites, and related services ("Services"), including Google Workspace Add-ons, Chrome Extensions, and web-based tools. This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. By using any Service, you agree to comply with this AUP.
The goal of this AUP is to protect our users, third parties, and the integrity of the Services while enabling legitimate and productive use. If you have questions about whether a specific use case is permitted, contact us at hello@verybigmachine.com.
2. Permitted Uses
Very Big Machine Services are designed for lawful, professional productivity use. Permitted uses include:
- Using the Services for your own internal business or personal productivity purposes
- Editing, annotating, translating, or managing documents you own or have lawful rights to modify
- Installing and using Services on behalf of your organization, provided you have the authority to bind that organization to our Terms of Service
- Accessing the Services via supported browsers and Google Workspace accounts in compliance with applicable Google policies
3. Prohibited Conduct โ General
You may not use any Very Big Machine Service to:
- Violate applicable law. This includes privacy laws, intellectual property laws, export control laws, anti-spam laws (e.g., CAN-SPAM, CASL), or any other applicable regulation.
- Infringe intellectual property rights. Do not process, reproduce, or distribute content for which you do not hold the necessary rights or licenses.
- Harass, defame, or harm others. Do not use the Services to create, process, or distribute content that is unlawfully harassing, threatening, defamatory, or discriminatory.
- Distribute malicious code. Do not use the Services to transmit viruses, worms, ransomware, spyware, or any code designed to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to any system.
- Conduct fraudulent activity. Do not use the Services for phishing, identity fraud, impersonation, or any scheme to deceive users or third parties.
- Circumvent security measures. Do not attempt to bypass, defeat, or circumvent any authentication, access control, rate limit, or security feature of the Services.
- Probe or test vulnerabilities without authorization. Unauthorized penetration testing, scanning, or exploitation of the Services is prohibited. See our responsible disclosure process in the Data Breach Response Policy.
- Overburden or interfere with the Services. Do not conduct denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, generate unusually high request volumes, or otherwise interfere with the performance or availability of the Services.
- Resell or sublicense the Services. Do not offer access to Very Big Machine Services to third parties for a fee without our prior written consent.
4. Prohibited Conduct โ Google Workspace Add-ons
In addition to the general prohibitions above, you may not use any Very Big Machine Google Workspace Add-on to:
- Access Google Workspace data (Drive, Docs, Gmail, Sheets, etc.) beyond the scope of the specific feature you have explicitly invoked
- Exfiltrate, copy, or transmit content from Google Workspace to any third party not disclosed in our Privacy Policy
- Automate actions in Google Workspace in ways that violate Google's Terms of Service or API usage policies
- Circumvent Google's OAuth permission scopes or request elevated permissions not required for the stated functionality
- Use Google Workspace data obtained through our add-ons for any purpose other than providing the requested Service feature
5. Prohibited Conduct โ Chrome Extensions
In addition to the general prohibitions above, you may not use any Very Big Machine Chrome Extension to:
- Collect, harvest, or transmit browsing data, form inputs, passwords, or any data from web pages you visit beyond what is strictly required for the extension's stated functionality
- Inject content into third-party websites without the explicit intent to use the extension's documented features on those sites
- Modify, intercept, or proxy network requests in ways not disclosed in the Chrome Web Store listing or extension permissions dialog
- Use the extension to conduct unauthorized web scraping or automated data extraction from third-party services
- Violate the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including policies on prohibited products, deceptive installation, and data use transparency
6. Content Standards
You are solely responsible for the documents, files, and content you process using our Services. You must not use our Services to process, store, or transmit content that:
- Is unlawful, obscene, or constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Contains instructions for creating weapons, explosives, or any material intended to cause mass harm
- Facilitates human trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor
- Violates the export control or sanctions laws of the United States or other applicable jurisdictions

Our Services are distributed through third-party platforms. Your use must comply with the policies of any platform through which you access our Services, including:

Very Big Machine reserves the right to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. If we determine, in our reasonable discretion, that a violation has occurred, we may take any of the following actions without prior notice:
- Issue a warning to the account holder
- Temporarily suspend access to one or more Services
- Permanently terminate the account
- Remove or disable access to specific content or features
- Report the activity to law enforcement or relevant regulatory authorities
We are not required to provide refunds for fees paid during a period of suspension or termination resulting from an AUP violation.
9. Reporting Abuse
If you become aware of any use of our Services that violates this AUP, please report it to hello@verybigmachine.com. We review all reports and take appropriate action, though we may not be able to share details of our investigation with the reporting party.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a notice on our website. Continued use of our Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
